Obituary

Anna Maria Georgina (Vaczy) Meynadasy  -- Mrs. Anna Meynadasy, age 89, of Danbury, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 30, 2021, following a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Antal "Tony" Meynadasy for nearly six decades.

Anna was born at home on April 24, 1932, in Szolnok, Hungary, where she lived happily with her family until the outbreak of war in Hungary in 1944. After a brief time in the German Alps, she traveled to England in the 1950s where she worked as a nanny and learned how to become a nurse. She eventually immigrated to the United States in 1960 where she married her husband, and in the decade that followed, settled in Peekskill, NY, and gave birth to her four children. She worked as a maternity nurse at Peekskill Hospital until her retirement, and in 1996, moved with her husband to Heritage Village in Southbury, CT, where they lived joyously for many years until finally moving to Danbury in 2012.

While living in Danbury, she enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends and acquaintances at the New Fairfield Senior Center. She always welcomed her family into her home for delicious home-cooked meals and enjoyed playing with all her grandchildren when they were young, and more recently her great-grandchildren

Later in life, she discovered her talent as a fine artist and leaves behind many beautiful pastel drawings and watercolor paintings, which will be cherished by her family forever.

Anna was a woman of great devotion and strong faith in God. Prayer and her relationship with Christ were always central in her life. She will be sorely missed at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, CT.

Anna will always be remembered for her infectious positivity, her sweetness, and her compassion. She taught all those around her to be better through her examples of generosity, gratitude, and kindness to everyone. Her inspiration and her legacy will live on.

She is survived by two sisters Margaret Hajdu and Magda Kollo of Manchester, England. She is also survived by her sons Michael Meynadasy of Webster, NY, Andrew Meynadasy, of East Rockaway, NY, and her twin daughters Betty Ann Medeiros, of Danbury, and Mary Jane Geary, of Mahopac, NY.  Anna also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Medeiros, of Danbury, Melissa Andreoni of Danbury, Erin and Tara Geary, of Mahopac, NY, and Melissa, Nicole, and Olivia Meynadasy of Webster, NY.

She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Joseph Andreoni and Vivian Medeiros, of Danbury

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m.in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT. (Meet Directly AT Church) Burial will follow in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.
