Anna Augusta Wetlesen Lossius, a beloved member of the Ridgefield community passed away peacefully, June 24,2024 at the age of 88. Anna is survived by her daughters Wencke Lossius, Gerd Lossius, and Karin Pitt, siblings Thorvald, Vetle , Guri, and Karen. She was a proud grandmother to James and Lucy Polo-Lossius, Erik and Jacob Nimmo, Liam, Wilson and Hans Pitt, as well as four great grandchildren.
Born in Norway, Anna moved to Ridgefield in 1969, where she quickly became a fixture in the Ridgefield community as an active member in the First Congregational Church, Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce, and the Ridgefield Lions Club as their first female member and President. She was also the first woman to serve as Branch Manager at Bank of America in Ridgefield. Her community reach went far beyond the borders of Connecticut, as she served communities in Honduras and the Domincan Republic with Habitat for Humanity, physically laying brick and mortar to help build homes for those in need.
She was an avid gardener and a gifted weaver and painter. Anna may be best known for her care of others, her generosity, and her signature bear hugs.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield on September 28th, 2024 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Habitat for Humanity.
