Cornelia Ann Mannino, 92, of New Fairfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2024, with her husband Joseph by her side.
Mrs. Mannino, who went by Ann, was born August 18, 1931 in Richmond, VA to the late William and Mary Frances (Marston) McGloine.
Weeks after her birth, Ann moved to New York, where she would eventually meet and marry her soulmate and husband of over 73 years, Joseph Mannino. Together they had two children, Robert and Janice, whom they raised in Rosedale, Queens, New York. Ann and Joseph would eventually move to Connecticut, where they lived with Janice and her family for 30 years until her death.
In addition to Joseph and her children Robert Mannino (wife Louisa) and Janice Hoey (husband John), Ann is survived by her sister Rita Scala, seven grandchildren: Jason Mannino (wife Lori), Autumn Hoey, John Hoey (wife Kathleen), Regina Bensten (husband Bradford), Christina Santora (husband Michael), Louis Mannino (wife Chloe), Matthew Hoey (wife Christie), and 14 great grandchildren.
Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She loved playing along to TV game shows, a competitive round of Scrabble, and she rarely found a crossword puzzle she couldn’t conquer. Ann also loved listening to Frank Sinatra, watching baseball, especially the New York Yankees, and was a popular presence at the New Fairfield Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mannino was predeceased by her brothers William J. McGloine, Jackie McGloine, and Fred McGloine, and sisters Mary Lou Columbo and Margaret “Peggy” Quinn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church; 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield. There will be no calling hours.
Contributions in Mrs. Mannino’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
