Amye Dawn (Weaver) Huizinga

Amye Huizinga, 59, of Danbury, CT passed away at her home on May 18, 2026.

Amye was born on November 9, 1966 in Birmingham, AL to George and Sheila Weaver. Amye grew up in South Salem, NY and graduated John Jay High School in 1984. Amye met and married John Huizinga in 1985.

Amye was known as "everyone’s mom". While she had 9 children of her own, she was also a mother figure to many. She worked as a night nanny and loved each baby she cared for.

Amye loved crafting and sending cards. She loved traveling and combing beaches for shells. Amye was passionate for her faith. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and it was evident in everything she did.

Amye is survived by her husband John Huizinga; her children and their spouses, Kimber and Paul Mueller, Kristy Huizinga, Kelley Rocca, Luke Huizinga, Russell and Kathryn Huizinga, Emma Huizinga, Caleb and Julia Huizinga, Noah Huizinga, Abigail Huizinga; her grandchildren Andrew and Esther Huizinga, Eloise and Nora Rocca, Adaline Huizinga, Waylon Mueller; her father George Weaver; her sisters Karen Tulipani and Rali Weaver; and many extended family members and friends.

Amye is preceded in death by her mother Sheila Weaver.

A memorial service will be held at Brookfield First Assembly of God Church - 133 Junction Rd Brookfield, CT 06804
on Saturday June 27, 2026 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookfield First Assembly.

Amye will be forever loved and deeply missed.
