Adrienne Orlan, 90, of Ridgefield, CT and New York City, passed away on Saturday, July 27.
She was the beloved wife of George Orlan for 60 years until his passing in 2015. A woman of charm and old world grace, she was the matriarch of the Orlan family that includes three children, seven grandchildren and a great grandson.
Adrienne received a Masters Degree from Hofstra University in Education, and she worked at the Day Care Council of Nassau, in Long Island, supporting local day care centers. She was an avid reader—The New York Times and The New Yorker cover to cover and any book that crossed her path. She met life with stoicism and a sense of humor. Her honesty could turn you around and send you on your way a better person.
Adrienne is survived by her three children, Amy Gilroy (and Bill Damsky), Beth Uzcategui (and Robert), Fred Orlan (and Lisa), her grandchildren Shannon Gilroy (and Alex Gorevski), Charlotte Gilroy (and Zac Rossetto), Joseph and Justin Uzcategui, Lily Prince (and Aaron), and Jack and Isabelle Orlan, and intrepid one-year old great grandson, AJ Gorevski. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Renee Lerner, lifelong friends Pam Carnivale, Toni Liebman, and her beloved Ellen Darvick and Betty Kloth, partners in politics, volunteerism, luncheons on Main Street and other wonderful endeavors, friends for over 75 years.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Congregation Shir Shalom - 46 Peaceable Street, Ridgefield. Following the funeral service, the Orlan Family will sit Shiva and greet guests at the synagogue.
